Wine Windows Map

Scattered across the walls of Florence’s historic palaces are small stone openings barely large enough for a bottle — the buchette del vino, or wine windows. Dating back to the 17th century, these were the original takeaway counters, where noble families sold wine directly to passers-by through tiny hatches.

A handful still operate today. This map marks both the historic windows and those currently in use — a charming way to discover a detail most visitors walk straight past.

A gentle note: these are located in residential neighbourhoods. Please keep noise to a minimum and be respectful of the space around you.
